Terms of Use
Last updated: 1 October 2026
1. The agreement
These terms, together with Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”), govern your use of the BugWiz app and BugWiz Pro. BugWiz is published by Anas Alradhwan, an independent developer based in Kuwait and the seller shown on its App Store page (“we”, “us”). By using BugWiz you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle data. If these terms and the Standard EULA conflict, the Standard EULA governs your licence to use the app itself, and these terms govern the BugWiz service (identifications and BugWiz Pro).
Age. BugWiz is for people 18 and over only. By using BugWiz you confirm that you are at least 18.
2. What BugWiz does, and what it doesn’t
BugWiz uses automated image recognition to suggest what an insect, spider or other bug is, and it offers general safety information, pest tips and lessons. Identifications are automated estimates. They can be wrong and are not professional advice (medical, veterinary, pest-control or scientific). Check important decisions with a qualified professional.
Never touch, pick up or handle a bug, or let anyone (or a pet) near it, because of a result in BugWiz.
3. Bites, stings and safety information
The “Is it dangerous?” badges and safety tips are general guidance only, not medical advice, and they may be incomplete or wrong. BugWiz doesn’t diagnose bites, stings or any health condition. A bug without a warning is not necessarily safe.
If you’re bitten or stung and feel unwell, contact a doctor or poison control. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. In the US, Poison Help is 1-800-222-1222.
4. Pest tips
The pest guide gives general tips. If you use a pest-control product, follow its label and your local rules. For a serious infestation, damage to your home, or if you’re unsure, contact a licensed pest-control professional.
5. BugWiz Pro subscriptions
- Plans. BugWiz Pro is offered as a yearly subscription (BugWiz Pro Yearly), with a 7-day free trial when you are eligible, and as a weekly subscription (BugWiz Pro Weekly). Prices are shown in the app, in your local currency, before you buy, and may vary by country.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase or, with a free trial, when the trial ends.
- Auto-renewal. Your subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the current period ends.
- Free trial. Apple decides trial eligibility. To avoid being charged, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Manage or cancel. Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. After you cancel, Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies (reportaproblem.apple.com).
- Restore. If you reinstall BugWiz or change phones, tap “Restore” on the paywall, or “Restore purchases” in Me.
6. The free identification and fair use
The free version includes one identification. BugWiz Pro includes unlimited identifications for everyday use (fair use: up to 20 an hour and 60 a day). These limits keep the service fast and prevent abuse.
7. Your photos
Only scan photos you have the right to use. When you scan a photo, you allow us and our identification provider, Kindwise s.r.o., to process it to provide the service. Under Kindwise’s terms, Kindwise also receives a non-exclusive, irrevocable licence to use photos it receives, for example to improve its models and to show them to other users as similar images. Don’t scan photos of people, documents or anything private.
8. Acceptable use
Please use BugWiz lawfully and fairly. You may not:
- upload unlawful, harmful or infringing content;
- copy, decompile or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
- use bots, scripts or other automated or bulk access, or try to get around identification limits, the paywall or security checks;
- use BugWiz or its results to build or train a competing identification service, or resell them.
9. Third-party content
Some bug descriptions come from Wikipedia, through Kindwise, and are licensed under CC BY-SA 3.0. The app credits the source, and that licence applies. Some summaries are written by AI (provided by Kindwise); the app labels them as AI summaries, and they can contain mistakes. Reference photos on a result are credited in the app with their Creative Commons licence, and those licences apply. The safety badges come from BugWiz’s own catalog, which is based on public-health, government, university and museum sources.
10. Changes to the app and these terms
We keep improving BugWiz, so features may change. The service may occasionally be unavailable. We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version.
11. Disclaimers and liability
BugWiz is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of or damage to property, plants or crops resulting from use of the app, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for BugWiz Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be limited.
12. Ending
You can stop using BugWiz at any time and delete your data in Me → Delete my data. We may suspend access in cases of abuse or a breach of these terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Kuwait. If you use BugWiz as a consumer, this doesn’t take away the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live when that law allows it.
